FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE OUT OF NEVERLAND "Finding Neverland" stars Johnny Depp, Kate Winslet, Dustin Hoffman and Julie Christie. The biopic of James M. Barrie, the author of "Peter Pan" is based on the play "The Man Who Was Peter Pan" by Allan Knee. "Finding Neverland" details Barrie’s experiences, which inspires him to write the beloved children’s classic. Johnny Depp, who plays J.M. Barrie, joins Kate Winslet who stars as the terminally ill Sylvia Davies and Dustin Hoffman who portrays Barrie's real-life financial backer. Swiss filmmaker Marc Forster of Monster’s Ball directs the film, Sharon and Barry Holton are pleased to be associated with Finding Neverland telling the story behind such a classic as Peter Pan. Although Native Arts Trading usually works with collectors and Native Americans living in the States who hand make their art, on this occasion, Sharon - who is Cherokee, but not registered at this time with the Cherokee Nation, handmade most of the items featured in the film. Native American artisans made various other items. It is very important to Sharon and Barry that they sell authentic Native American items and that the Indians get credit for their handmade art. That is why they make a point to explain the difference between Native American made and non-Native American made, as there are inferior copies being passed off as authentic - when they are not. They are also members of (IACA) Indian Arts & Crafts Association - who strive to promote, protect and preserve the handmade creations of the Native American Indians. Some of the items made for the film were a headdress for Johnny Depp, a buckskin dress for Tiger Lilly, breche clouts, leggings, a war shirt, necklaces, armbands, other headdresses, along with many other accessories. Sharon states, ‘Making any item is a labor of love, whether it be for a film, for one’s home or personal collection.’ Sharon and Barry met in the Isle of Man. Barry was born in England but lived in Seattle for many years from the age of eight. With a background in the radio/media industry, their backgrounds may be quite different, but they share a love of discovery, of self-development, and of Native American art & culture. Born in Texas and during her 12 years in Arizona, Sharon absorbed the local culture from a number of Indian elders, learning the significance of the symbols, colors, designs and every other element which combines to render Native American art much more than a mere decoration. In their travels in America, Barry and Sharon have met some truly gifted Native American artists, many of whom they now represent through Native Arts Trading.
